Purchase Content from Google Video?

Has anyone come across this? Clicking on some videos from Google Video gives you the message "Buy this video to see the full * seconds"?

You can give it a try with this video. Let it play until the end.

Could this be a sign of Google Purchases? Just remember, Google pages that do not exist give you a 404 error page. The site purchases.google.com redirects you to your account.

It's just a matter of time before Google Purchases become a reality.

UPDATE: The message only appeared on some of Google Videos for a short amount of time. Shortly afterwords as well as at the time of this update, the message could no longer be found on any of the videos that Google hosts.

Google now includes a “Buy” button to the right side of the video, as well as the price. Some purchasable content has a "Buy DVD" link underneath of the buy button to purchase the DVD from the site that has the exclusive ownership rights of the video. I have included a screenshot for the people that missed it the first time.

Google Adsense gets holiday decorations

The Google Adsense team has been in the Christmas spirit lately. They have now decorated Adsense ads with holiday spirit creations. The images range from different things such as snowmen, Waldo, an ice skating penguin and holiday packages.

The decor doesn't appear by itself. In order to see it on your sight you need to log into your Adsense account and go to Account Settings under the My Account tab, and edit the settings for "Ad Type Preference ". Or by simply following the instructions in their FAQ.

Trends - New Google Search History Feature

Google has come out with a new feature for it's Search History service. Trends shows you your trend of searching patterns for quite a few different things. You can view your trends and patterns for top searches, top sites, top clicks, monthly search activity, daily search activity, hourly search activity, and people with searches similar to yours.

Trends gives pretty interesting patterns of your searches as well as statistics. There is a post on the Google Blog giving some detail from the Googler that came up with the idea who is a part of the personalization team at Google.

GmailThis!

GmailThis is a nice little feature. It is basically a button that you put on your toolbar. Pushing the button takes you directly to your gmail account to compose a new email. When the window opens, it has a link to the site you were on when you pushed the gmail this button. Any text that you highlighted on that page will also be included.

Basically, it cuts out the part of having to open your gmail account and going to compose a message and it brings the highlighted text and webpage link with it.

Gmail Clips

Some of you out there may have seen this in your gmail before. I caught a glimpse of it in my gmail account a couple of times.

Gmail clips are headlines from your favorite blogs and news sites right above your Inbox. They consist of aggravated feeds from
websites with an RSS or Atom feed. Gmail clips also displays relevant text ads appear from time to time as well.

This feature can be used as a great asset if you set it up to display headlines from sites or asset that you commonly view, to see what the headlines are. All you have to do is enter the URL of the website feed in the Clip settings, or pick from the popular feeds that are available. You can also search for feeds using keywords. Set this up properly and you can see things of interest that you would normally want to see anyway.
