The New Google Local - Find ANYTHING close to home, or far away...
On October 7th, 2005, Google announced the official launch of Google Local, its local directory of businesses similar to the Yellow Pages in the UK. Google also merged the technologies behind Google Local and Google Maps to create one application to access map directions and local advertisers. Local search holds strong ad revenue potential for Google, since many web surfers look for products and services near their home or in cities they're visiting, and it is likely to be at the core of Google's money making strategy if it rolls out a free wi-fi network across America following its trials in San Francisco.
The new Google Local is great. You can find ANYTHING in any specific area. All you need to know is the keyword or words your are looking for and something about the area. For example, a street name, zip code, city, state, intersection, etc. Just about ANYTHING local can be found on Google Local. Want to order a pizza? Just type in pizza and your zip code. It's that simple. :)
