Google temporarily limiting number of new users signing up for Google Analytics

After having 234,725 accounts opened within a week of it's debut, Google has closed the door on new users of Google Analytics, at least for now. In that short period of time, Google is up to tracking a half a million accounts and websites. Currently when a new user attempt to sign up on Google Analytics, they receive this message:

Google Analytics has experienced extremely strong demand, and as a result, we have temporarily limited the number of new signups as we increase capacity. In the meantime, please submit your name and email address and we will notify you as soon as we are ready to add new accounts. Thank you for your patience.

Is this a marketing move, or just an overwhelming of Google's new technology? Similar events have happened with Google Earth as well as Google Web Accelerator. Whatever the reason is, for now Google is not accepting new users or the addition of additional websites to current accounts.
